100th jubilee of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic at the
Mingachevir State University
Since the beginning of the year a series of events have been held at the Mingachevir State University on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. One of such events was remembered by the scientific and theoretical conference devoted to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic students and masters held at Mingachevir State University. The conference was opened by rector Akif Hajiyev. He noted that despite the short activity of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, 1918-1920 forms a special page of the history of Azerbaijan. Thus, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the first parliamentary democratic republic in the Muslim East, has been a very important statesman and has been one of the first countries to have women’s electoral rights, creating state structures, creating a national army, opening higher education institutions, declaring the Azerbaijani language as a state language and defining national borders, received the official flag of the country.
Then the head of the Department of Humanities, Associate Professor Esmira Jafarova held the conference. At the plenary session, the history teacher, I course student Arzu Shahkarimov, “Formation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic as a historical necessity” (scientific supervisor: docent Nizami Zeynalov); History teacher, 1st year student Aygül Kerimli “Foreign policy aspects of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and international relations” (scientific supervisor: dd., Associate Professor Esmira Jafarova); History teacher Khadija Abdullayeva, “Traditions of independence from our glorious history” (scientific leader: senior teacher Ilham Mammadov); Khayal Khalilov, 2nd year student of Economics, “The Creation of the National Army of Azerbaijan and its Historical Importance” (scientific leader: senior teacher Ilham Mammadov); Svetlana Nasibli, Ph.D., 2nd year student of the Azerbaijan language and literature teacher, “Poetry of the Republic period” (scientific supervisor: docent Namaz Manafov); Economics, 2nd year student Gulnaz Garayeva “Economics of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic” (scientific supervisor: Associate Professor Nushaba Gadimli); Azerbaijani language and literature teacher, 3rd year student Kamala Hajiyeva “Starting the history of parliamentarianism in the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and Azerbaijan” (scientific supervisor: senior teacher Matanat Yusifova); Konul Mustafayeva, a student of the 1st year student of the Azerbaijan language and literature teacher, “Ideas of republicanism in Huseyn Javid’s creative work” (scientific supervisor: Ph.D., senior teacher Gunel Yunusova); Asgarhan Ibrahimov, a mathematics teacher, 3rd year student, lectured on “Modern Azerbaijani youth is our guarantor of independence” (scientific supervisor: Ph.D., Associate Professor Flora Namazova).
Then Akif Hajiyev, the Rector of Mingachevir State University, thanked the students, magistrates and their scientific advisors who spoke on the conference and thanked for their content and interesting facts. The students and magistrates who were closely involved in the work of the conference were given certificates.
After the plenary session of the conference, section meetings were held. Part I – the Democratic People’s Republic of Azerbaijan: history and politics, headed by the senior teacher of the Department of Humanities Ilham Mammadov and included 16 theses. Section II – Issues of Literature, Art and Language in the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, Associate Professor of Humanities, Ph.D. Named Manafov’s leadership and included 35 dissertations. Part III – Contemporary independent Azerbaijan Republic is a successor of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Associate Professor Nizami Zeynalov and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ph.D., Associate Professor Vugar Mustafayev.
The department sessions were also held at the highest level and certificates were presented to the authors of the best thesis by the presentation of the vice-rector on scientific affairs of Mingachevir State University, professor Veysel Eyyubov and chairman of the organizing committee of the conference, head of the chair of humanitarian disciplines, docent Esmira Jafarova.
