On February 26, 2026, an academic-practical seminar titled \u201cCreating a Climate of Public Intolerance in Society Toward Conditions that Facilitate the Commission of Human Trafficking and Forced Labor Crimes\u201d was organized at Mingachevir State University within the framework of the \u201cYear of Urban Planning and Architecture.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main objective of the seminar was to conduct scientific discussions aimed at preventing human trafficking and forced labor crimes in the context of fostering a safe, socially just, and inclusive urban environment, to strengthen awareness-raising efforts in this field, and to promote a climate of public intolerance toward such crimes. The event aimed to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the event, an awareness-raising video on the topic was screened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seminar was moderated by Elvin Mammadov, Advisor to the Rector for Social Affairs at MSU. In his speech, he emphasized that serious crimes such as human trafficking and forced labor are not only legal issues but also matters of social and moral responsibility, highlighting the significant educational and preventive role of higher education institutions in this regard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Polad Atayev, legal advisor at MSU, delivered a presentation titled \u201cConcepts of Human Trafficking and Forced Labor and the Legal Framework for Combating These Categories of Crimes,\u201d providing detailed information on the legal nature of human trafficking and existing mechanisms of prevention within national and international legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nargiz Niftaliyeva, lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of MSU, delivered a presentation titled \u201cProvision of Socio-Psychological and Medical-Social Rehabilitation Services to Victims of Human Trafficking,\u201d drawing attention to the importance of victims\u2019 reintegration into society, psychological support mechanisms, and social protection measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The presentations were followed by extensive discussions, and participants\u2019 questions were addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It should be noted that, within the framework of the \u201cYear of Urban Planning and Architecture,\u201d Mingachevir State University continues to organize a series of events covering sustainable development, human rights, and social welfare issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
