On March 31, 2026, a scientific conference titled \u201cThe March Events of 1918: Historical Facts and Realities\u201d was held at Mingachevir State University. The conference was attended by the Rector of the university Anar Eminov, as well as members of the academic and administrative staff of MSU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his opening speech, Rector Anar Eminov spoke about the historical significance of March 31 \u2013 the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis. The rector noted that the Decree \u201cOn the Genocide of Azerbaijanis,\u201d signed in 1998 by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, became an important milestone in providing legal and political assessment to these tragedies. It was emphasized that as a result of the consistent policy implemented in this direction by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, significant achievements have been made in promoting historical truths at the international level, immortalizing the memory of genocide victims, and preserving national memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rector also emphasized the special importance of educating young people in the spirit of loyalty to national and moral values, strengthening their historical memory, and reinforcing patriotic spirit. It was noted that awareness-raising events, scientific conferences, and promotional projects implemented in higher education institutions contribute to making young people more active and informed in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Afterwards, a video presentation dedicated to the topic was shown during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The conference continued with presentations. Senior lecturer Ilham Mammadov delivered a presentation titled \u201cHistorical Conditions and Causes Leading to the Genocide of Azerbaijanis.\u201d Lecturer Khadija Suleymanli spoke on \u201cThe March 31 Genocide: Its Role in the Formation of National Memory.\u201d Lecturer Elman Valiyev presented \u201cProviding Political and Legal Assessment to the March Genocide as Restoration of Historical Justice,\u201d while senior lecturer Ayna Babazade delivered a presentation on \u201cThe Theme of Genocide in Azerbaijani Literature.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The presented reports were met with great interest by the participants, and the conference continued with discussions and exchanges of views around the presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
