Entrepreneurs from high school together in a scientific workshop

Scientific seminar on “Improvement of modern business skills and knowledge of small and medium entrepreneurship subjects” (in the context of Strategic Road Map) was held at Mingachevir State University in “Economics and Management” faculty.

Prof. Veysel Eyyubov, Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs of the University, received the greetings of Rector Akif Hajiyev and wished success to the workshop. V.Yyyubov gave detailed information about the seminar’s purpose.

He noted that the development of small and medium-sized businesses in Azerbaijan is of particular importance in terms of diversification of the economy, increasing competitiveness, ensuring employment, repaying demand for consumer goods through local resources and ensuring economic development. Thus, when considering small and medium-sized enterprises in the Gross Domestic Product and employment in developed countries, it can be concluded that transformation of small and medium-sized businesses into key driving factors is one of the main challenges facing Azerbaijan in sustainable economic development.

Professor Veysel Eyyubov noted that, along with the professor-teaching staff of the university, Mingachevir City Entrepreneurs Confederation chairman Vagif Hasanov and other entrepreneurs also attended the scientific seminar.

Then the head teacher of “Economics” department Gunesh Shafagatov delivered a speech on “The role of entrepreneurial activity in the socio-economic development of regions”. He pointed out that the typical feature of entrepreneurship in economic relations is the business risk associated with business. Risk shapes the psychiatry of the enterprise, its activities. Only an entrepreneur who produces high quality products and regularly updates his range can operate perfectly.

Gunesh Shafagatov noted that different opinions about entrepreneurship activity also confirm that private owners have the freedom of economic and business activity. Laws and some other important normative documents have been adopted in recent years to ensure the legal basis of entrepreneurship. However, the adoption of the “Competition Code”, which can boost entrepreneurship, is delayed in the Parliament. Also, entrepreneurs in the region are unable to fully benefit from the government’s preferential loans. The absence of a declaration of income in the country creates difficulties in ensuring transparency in this area.

Zaur Rasulov, senior teacher at the Department of Industry and Management, emphasized the role of higher education institutions in raising the level of personnel training for the industrial enterprises in the implementation of the Strategic Road Map, emphasizing the role of higher education institutions in raising the level of personnel training for industrial enterprises. Without taking into account certain factors that depend on students, the organization of the learning process plays a crucial role in the learning process and development of the student. Zaur Rasulov underlined that the impact of the educational process on the formation of an educated and competent person depends largely on the level of professional organization of education. There is a strong link between this factor and the achievement of the students. Experience of countries that have made significant progress in the development of education shows that modern, active, interactive learning methods, which develop ICT-based, creative thinking and take into account the individual characteristics of an educator, produce higher results. To this end, the creation of sustainable teaching methods and raising the competence of teachers is an important part of education policy.

Head of Innovative Business Incubation Center of MSU on “Development of business incubators and startup projects” tex.f.d. Mohammed Ahmadov spoke. He said that the innovative business incubation center, which has been operating since April 2016, is continuing its efforts to expand the startup movement and implement innovative ideas. Center’s activity regulates the participation of the MSU in grant competitions of young teachers, masters and bachelors. Möhübbet Ahmedov stressed that startup is a business and it should be a profit-making entity for every business. At the startup there are also “social entrepreneurship” destinations. These types of startups work without income, but by maintaining the project’s performance by minimizing revenue. Startups are supported by universities, business incubators, business angels (angel investors), technology parks, grant programs, venture funding funds, and accelerators. The main source of the new startup is a creative idea. Even if the idea itself is just on paper, the startup plan can have a great deal of value. Another factor that is important for the success of the startup and its success is the potential demand in the market.

At the seminar, the teacher of “Economy” department Jalil Bagirov spoke on “Directions of stimulation of small and medium entrepreneurship development in the tourism sector”. He noted that in the Strategic Road Map on the development of specialized tourism industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the goals of forming favorable environments in the tourism sector, developing regional tourism and establishing a national tourism quality system were identified. As a result of the targets, tourism infrastructure will be improved, tourism and recreational zones will be created, simplification of visa procedures and improvement of the standardization and certification system.

In addition, it is necessary to implement a plan of urgent measures to encourage domestic and, especially, foreign investment in the development of tourism activities by the state. This action plan will create conditions for stimulating the development of tourism enterprises, directing private entrepreneurship entities to the construction of large tourism infrastructure facilities on the basis of ownership, mergers in holding companies, acquisition of assets and other organizational and economic mechanisms.
