Slovenia is located on the coast of Adriatic Sea having the Mediterranean climate. Especially in the mountainous areas in the north, winter is very cold and snowy. Due to its good climate 57% of the country’s land is covered with forests.

Most of Slovenia is covered by the Alp Mountains and the extensions of Hungarian plains in the east. The highest peak in the country is the Triqlav Mountain (2864 m). Slovenia’s most important rivers are Soca and Drava coming from the Austrian Alps.
