Members of the university\u2019s academic staff and students participated in the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the beginning of the event, the memory of the victims of the Khojaly tragedy, as well as all martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland, was honored with a one-minute moment of silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference was opened with an introductory speech by Elvin Mammadzade, Advisor to the Rector of Mingachevir State University for Social Affairs. In his address, he emphasized that the Khojaly tragedy is one of the gravest disasters that has left an indelible mark on the history of the Azerbaijani people and stressed the importance of preserving the memory of this event in the national consciousness. It was noted that the Khojaly tragedy is not only a painful page of the past, but also one of the moral foundations of the life being rebuilt today in our liberated territories. It was underlined that the liberation of Khojaly represents the triumph of historical justice and demonstrates that the tragedy engraved in the nation\u2019s memory has not been forgotten and is always remembered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Head of the Department of Humanities, Associate Professor Esmira Jafarova, delivered a speech on the historical realities of the Khojaly tragedy. She stated that the Khojaly genocide is one of the gravest crimes committed against the Azerbaijani people and explained its political and historical essence. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of conveying the truth about Khojaly to the younger generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Afterwards, a video dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy was screened. The video presented real footage reflecting the events that took place during the tragedy, and the images depicting the horrific moments experienced by the residents of Khojaly evoked deep emotional feelings among the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference continued with presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gular Ajdarzade, a lecturer of the Department of Humanities and a doctoral candidate, delivered a report on the topic <strong>\u201cThe Historical Causes and Consequences of the Khojaly Tragedy.\u201d<\/strong> The presentation analyzed the historical and political factors that led to the Khojaly genocide and explained the consequences of Armenia\u2019s occupation policy against Azerbaijan. It was noted that the Khojaly tragedy has gone down in history as one of the grave crimes committed against the civilian population in violation of international legal norms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aqshin Karimli, a lecturer of the Department of Humanities and a doctoral candidate, delivered a presentation entitled <strong>\u201cThe Principle of \u2018Never Again\u2019 and Global Responsibility.\u201d<\/strong> His speech addressed the efforts undertaken to promote international recognition of the Khojaly tragedy and emphasized the responsibility of the global community to prevent such tragedies from recurring. It was stated that the international promotion of the truth about Khojaly is of great importance in restoring justice and recognizing historical facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leyla Babayeva, a lecturer of the Department of Humanities and a doctoral candidate, presented a report on the topic <strong>\u201cThe Khojaly Tragedy in the Context of Genocide and Crimes against Humanity.\u201d<\/strong> The presentation analyzed the assessment of the Khojaly events from the perspective of international law and explained the legal essence of the concepts of genocide and crimes against humanity. It was noted that, in terms of its scale and consequences, the Khojaly tragedy should be regarded as one of the grave crimes committed against humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sona Mammadova, a lecturer of the Department of Humanities, delivered a presentation entitled <strong>\u201cThe Theme of Khojaly in Literature and Art.\u201d<\/strong> The report analyzed the reflection of the Khojaly tragedy in fiction and art, noting that the theme of Khojaly is presented not only as a historical fact but also as a tragedy of human destinies. It was emphasized that texts about Khojaly included in textbooks and literary works contribute to shaping the historical memory of the younger generation and enable a deeper emotional understanding of the events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was noted that just as the Khojaly tragedy lives on as memory in literature, it also lives in art as a truth engraved in stone. In this regard, the monument \u201cMother\u2019s Cry\u201d erected in Baku is regarded as the petrified cry of the tragedy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was emphasized that every year, on the cold days of February, people walk silently toward this monument.
