Within the framework of its environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and green campus strategy, Mingachevir State University (MSU) has launched the \u201cMSU Seed Bank.\u201d The new initiative is one of the university\u2019s important projects aimed at strengthening sustainable environmental management systems, preserving genetic resources, and advancing the green university model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Currently, more than 50 different seed samples have been collected in the seed bank. These include seeds of agriculturally significant crops for the region, as well as decorative and native flora species. The collected samples are preserved under special protection conditions and systematically catalogued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main purpose of the project is to preserve plant genetic resources, support biodiversity, increase environmental awareness, and engage students in green initiatives. At the same time, the seed bank will serve as a scientific and practical platform for students and researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seed bank established at MSU contributes significantly to the following areas:
\u2022 biodiversity conservation;
\u2022 sustainable green campus initiatives;
\u2022 environmental education and research activities;
\u2022 resilience policies against climate change;
\u2022 protection of local ecosystems and genetic resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the next phase, the university plans to further expand the seed bank, increase the number of regional flora samples, organize seed collection campaigns involving students, and establish cooperation with international environmental platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
