The research aimed to strengthen students’ practical training, assess the condition of regional water resources, and enhance their ecological monitoring skills.

Within the framework of the study, water samples collected from different settlements in Mingachevir, Yevlakh, Agdash, Ujar, Kurdamir, Hajigabul, Goychay, and Zardab districts were analyzed using modern laboratory methods. During the analysis, key water quality indicators were determined, including pH level, electrical conductivity (EC), total hardness, calcium (Ca²⁺), magnesium (Mg²⁺), bicarbonates (HCO₃⁻), chlorides (Cl⁻), oxidation-reduction potential (Eh), C (mol/l), and mineralization levels.

The laboratory research provided students with practical knowledge and skills in water quality assessment, working with analytical equipment, comparative analysis of results, and the application of ecological monitoring methods. The project also holds significant importance in promoting applied ecological education and studying the region’s natural resources.

Based on the research findings, it was determined that water quality varies across different areas of the Central Aran region. Samples taken from Mingachevir, Ujar, Goychay, and Yevlakh generally showed that key indicators were within normal ranges, and the water was assessed as suitable for use. However, in the Agdash and Kurdamir areas, higher mineralization and electrical conductivity levels indicated a greater concentration of dissolved mineral substances in the water.

The highest values were observed in the water sample taken from the Godekqobu area of Zardab district. Here, elevated levels of electrical conductivity, hardness, and mineralization revealed that the water was rich in salts and mineral substances. According to expert assessments, the long-term use of such water may have certain adverse effects on human health and aquatic ecosystems.

The research results indicate that regular monitoring of water resources is essential in some areas. Such scientific and practical activities make an important contribution to shaping students’ ecological awareness, promoting sustainable development principles, and assessing the environmental condition of the region.

The research is regarded as part of ongoing efforts at Mingachevir State University to develop an applied education model, involve students in solving real environmental challenges, and expand scientific research activities.

Download

Students majoring in Ecology at Mingachevir State University (MDU) carried out laboratory analyses of water samples collected from various locations across the Central Aran region.
