The VIII Forum of Azerbaijani Youth was held in Baku
The VIII Forum of Azerbaijani Youth under the slogan “The heirs of the Republic – future of Azerbaijan” started in Baku Congress Center on November 16.
The forum was attended by state and government officials, including Assistant First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Head of Youth Policy and Sports Department of the Presidential Administration Yusuf Mammadaliyev, Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Social and Political Issues Department Tahir Suleymanov, MPs , heads of youth organizations, young people, athletes and servicemen who are delegated to the Forum from different zones of our country.
The event started with the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Then, the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev, the memory of the heroes of Homeland, who lost their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Assistant to the First Vice President – Head of Youth Policy and Sports Department of the Presidential Administration Yusuf Mammadaliyev read a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Then a video clip was prepared on the activities carried out in the field of youth in our country during the VII Forum of Azerbaijani Youth.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov expressed his satisfaction with the VIII Forum being held in a remarkable history for our country in the year of celebrating the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
The Minister said that the Forum of Azerbaijani Youth held in 1996 with the initiative and participation of national leader Heydar Aliyev was a serious message and message on the fact that the country’s youth are the future of Azerbaijan. Noting that there were important changes in the life of young people in the past 22 years from the first Forum, Rahimov pointed out that in 1994-2003, Azerbaijan was a period of awakening and organizing youth. It was during this period that the first youth organizations emerged.
As a result of expanding cooperation and increasing responsibility, the establishment of the National Council of Youth Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan gave a significant boost to youth participation, social entrepreneurship. Later, local authorities began to work with young people in the regions.
It was noted that in 2004-2010, serious work has been done to ensure the interests of young people in social life, and the international cooperation of Azerbaijani youth has increased. In 2007, the Year of Youth was proclaimed in 2008 and the IV World Summit on Youth Employment and the 6th International Youth Science Olympiad were held in 2008 under the chairmanship of First Lady of Azerbaijan, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva. The biggest impact of the measures taken by President Ilham Aliyev in the direction of the transformation of black gold into human capital was to young people.
The Minister said that a new era of development has been started in the youth policy since 2004 and the material and technical base of this field has been strengthened. The funds allocated from the state budget to the youth area have increased by more than a decade. In 2005 and 2011, two state programs were adopted consistently for Azerbaijani youth.
Noting the high level of participation of youth in 2011-2017 and Azerbaijan’s youth policy experience as an internationally recognized period, the minister said that these years were also the fastest growing state support for young people. Young people and youth organizations have begun to show greater activity in the implementation of state programs, in the development of international cooperation, protection of Azerbaijani interests abroad.
It was noted that, due to the implementation of government programs, major innovations have taken place – the Youth Foundation has been established and the Youth Home Network, the main infrastructure of youth policy, has been established and the Presidential Award for Youth has been established.
The successes gained during these years include the projects “Ganja – the European capital of 2016”, the projects of the Virtual Karabakh ICT Center, the conduct of the 41st World Conference of the World Scout Organization in Azerbaijan, the national intellectual TV competition “I am Azerbaijanis” and the “Modern Azerbaijani Youth” daily television the Minister noted that the II and III forums of creative youth, competitions on computer games, the organization of European and world conferences of young scientists, “Talent Preparation Laboratory”, national intellectual games and other projects and events.
A. Rahimov emphasized that over the past five years, 681 measures, including 107 international events were implemented by the ministry. 7305 foreigners visited Azerbaijan within the framework of foreign delegations and 1277 Azerbaijani youth participated in international events. At the initiative of our youth, five international youth organizations have been set up in Baku.
Speaking about the international cooperation of the Azerbaijani youth, the Minister specifically underlined the importance of the 1st Global Youth Forum on the theme of the Youth Forum, which was held in our country in 2014 and involved 700 delegates from 165 countries. The minister also mentioned the development of ESSE competition and volunteerism movement in 42 foreign countries, “What Do I Know About Azerbaijan?”
Expressing his confidence that the VIII Forum will become a memorable event in the life of young people with effective discussions, the Minister wished success to the event.
Chairman of the Milli Majlis Youth and Sports Committee Ulvi Guliyev, Minister of Youth and Sport of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Azad Jabbarov, Executive Director of Youth Foundation of Azerbaijan Farid Jafarov, Chairman of National Council of Youth Organizations of Azerbaijan Maryam Majidova, Chairman of Youth Union of New Azerbaijan Party Seymur Orujov have acted on the report.
Following the break, delegates from the Forum meetings were presenting reports on their work in the regions they represent. Also, the speeches of young people representing different spheres were heard.
At the end of the event, an appeal was received to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on behalf of the participants of the VIII Forum.
Mingachevir city was represented by 18 people at the VIII Forum, including Chairman of the Free Student Trade Union Committee of Mingachevir State University Rashad Gurbanov, Chairman of Student Youth Organization Samrin Khanlayev and student of Group MT16 Konul Hasilova. They held various meetings within the Forum, exchanged views with student colleges and youth organizations of higher education institutions.
The first Azerbaijan Independent Youth Forum was held on February 2, 1996 on the initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev. The great leader Heydar Aliyev, who accepted a group of young people on February 1, 1997, signed a decree on celebrating February 2 as the Day of Youth of Azerbaijan.
The forum gave a worthy place in the modern socio-political history of Azerbaijan and gave a powerful impetus to the strategy of the state aimed at comprehensive development of the young generation. Last – VII Forum was held on June 2, 2014 at the Heydar Aliyev Palace.
