Mingachevir State University organized an educational training session on the topic “Sleep Hygiene and Mental Performance.” In modern educational approaches, a healthy lifestyle, particularly quality sleep, plays a crucial role in children’s cognitive development. In this context, Aytakin Ikram gizi Karimova, a lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology at Mingachevir State University, conducted the training at Mingachevir City Kindergarten No. 8.
The training was designed for the university’s pre-school education trainees as well as the academic staff of the respective kindergarten. Türkanə Yusubova, a lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, also participated and shared her scientific and practical insights on the topic.
During the session, kindergarten teachers provided participants with a detailed explanation of the theoretical foundations of sleep hygiene, its effects on the human body, and its interrelation with cognitive and physical development, particularly in preschool-aged children. In addition, methods for establishing a proper sleep routine and the impact of sleep on attention, memory, and learning abilities were analyzed through practical examples.
Held in an interactive format, the training encouraged active participation from students, who engaged in extensive discussions, shared their opinions, and explored opportunities to apply this knowledge in practical activities.
As a result of the training, participants gained a deeper understanding of the importance of sleep hygiene and recognized the necessity of applying these principles effectively in their future pedagogical practices. The event also contributed to professional development in the field of pre-school education and supported the creation of a learning environment aligned with healthy lifestyle principles for children.
