Education, Scientific Development, and Public Oversight Discussed at Mingachevir State University: Meeting Held with Members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Science and Education

On November 29, 2025, a meeting was held at Mingachevir State University with the participation of Member of Parliament Jeyhun Mammadov and members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event, which took place in the university’s assembly hall, was attended by MDU’s academic-administrative staff, students and master’s degree students, members of the Public Oversight Council, as well as school students from Mingachevir and their teachers.

Before the event, the guests laid flowers in front of the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and honored his cherished memory with deep respect and reverence.

Afterwards, the guests became acquainted with the examination process organized at Mingachevir State University. During the visit, detailed information was provided regarding the conduct and organizational aspects of the exams.

The guests then participated in the opening ceremony of the Economic Analytics and Modelling Laboratory established at the university. The modern technical and software infrastructure created in the laboratory was presented to the guests, and detailed information was provided about the opportunities it would offer in the fields of economic analysis, modelling, and forecasting.

The event began with a one-minute silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Azerbaijan’s territories, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Opening the event, Rector of MDU Anar Eminov spoke in detail about the reforms being implemented at the university, efforts to improve the quality of education, international cooperation, strengthening the scientific research environment, and student-oriented management principles. The rector emphasized that MDU’s role as an intellectual and scientific center of the region is steadily increasing and highlighted the opportunities created for the development of young people’s knowledge and skills.

Then, Member of Parliament Jeyhun Mammadov and members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Science and Education — Professor Hikmat Alizade, Gunay Akbarova, and Parvana Mammadova — delivered speeches emphasizing the importance of quality in higher education, the role of public oversight, student-teacher relations, and strengthening universities’ connections with society. The speakers positively evaluated the modern educational and scientific infrastructure established at MDU.

Within the framework of the event, travel tickets for international exchange programs were presented to ten students of Mingachevir State University who had been admitted to universities in Turkey and Kazakhstan. The students were wished success in their future academic activities, and confidence was expressed that they would достойно represent MDU in the international educational environment.

As part of the event, the winners and distinguished participants of the Mingachevir city stage of the Regional Mathematics Olympiad, jointly organized by Mingachevir State University and Techera, were also awarded. School students who achieved high results in the Olympiad received diplomas, certificates, and gifts, and were wished success in their future educational journeys.

The event continued with answers to participants’ questions and an exchange of ideas, and concluded with a commemorative group photo.
