On July 1, 2026, a delegation from Mingachevir State University visited Ege University, located in Izmir, Türkiye, as part of its business trip to the Republic of Türkiye.
The main purpose of the visit was to expand existing opportunities for academic cooperation between Mingachevir State University and Ege University, discuss the implementation status of double degree programmes, evaluate the results achieved within the “Orhun Exchange Programme”, and explore broader participation opportunities for MSU students and staff in the next calls.
During the meetings, the parties exchanged views on the internationalisation of higher education, the alignment of academic programmes with the modern requirements of the labour market, the enhancement of academic mobility, the strengthening of quality assurance mechanisms, and sustainable university governance. The discussions were held within a strategic framework aligned with MSU’s priorities of becoming a “green university”, supporting regional development, strengthening human capital and expanding global partnerships.
As part of the visit, working meetings were held with the structural units responsible for the education and teaching process at Ege University. The discussions focused on curricula, action plans, academic requirements of double degree programmes, documentation procedures and issues related to mutual alignment. Particular attention was paid to programme sustainability, students’ educational trajectories, credit compatibility and the work to be carried out at the next stage.
The delegation of Mingachevir State University also held a meeting at the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Ege University. During the discussions with the faculty leadership and academic staff, the experience of Ege University in the fields of sports sciences, healthy lifestyle, water sports and the development of relevant academic programmes was studied. Taking into account Mingachevir’s natural and geographical advantages, water basin potential and the importance of promoting a healthy lifestyle in the region, the parties discussed opportunities for implementing new academic initiatives in the fields of sports and water sports at MSU.
In this regard, views were exchanged on the future development of curricula, provision of expert support, involvement of academic staff in experience-sharing activities and the preparation of an initial roadmap for the relevant areas.
Within the framework of the visit, the main directions of bilateral cooperation were also discussed during a meeting with the Rector of Ege University, Prof. Dr. Musa Alcı, and Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Boyacı. The meeting addressed the current status of double degree programmes, the expansion of cooperation within the Orhun Exchange Programme, the establishment of new academic areas and the development of inter-university partnership on the basis of more systematic mechanisms.
At a separate meeting held with the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Ege University, the parties discussed the implementation mechanisms of double degree programmes, issues encountered in the current process, documents requiring revision and future action plans. The parties emphasised the importance of continuing joint activities in terms of ensuring more effective programme implementation, increasing student satisfaction and sustainably monitoring academic outcomes.
It should be noted that the visit was regarded as an important step in expanding MSU’s international partnership network, strengthening the regional university model based on sustainable development principles, and creating broader academic opportunities for students.
