GEOLAB Laboratory Inaugurated at Mingachevir State University

On December 21, 2023, the opening ceremony of the GEOLAB laboratory was held at Mingachevir State University (MSU). The laboratory was established within the framework of the Erasmus+ project titled “New Courses in Geospatial Engineering for Climate Change Adaptation of Coastal Ecosystems (GEOCLIC),” in which the university is a partner.

The event was attended by representatives and specialists from organizations such as “Azerbaijan Thermal Power Plant” LLC, “Mingachevir Hydropower Plants” LLC, the Regional Department of Ecology and Natural Resources No. 8, the Mingachevir City Municipality, as well as members of MSU’s academic and administrative staff.

Guests were ознаком with the facilities created within the laboratory. It was noted that the laboratory, equipped with 20 types of modern devices and equipment, aims to enhance the content of teaching and improve the quality of specialist training in fields such as Ecology, Ecological Engineering, Energy Engineering, and other engineering disciplines. The laboratory will be used in the teaching of various ecology-related subjects and will contribute to the development of students’ practical skills.

The Rector of MSU, Şahin Bayramov, emphasized that transforming the university into a modern institution grounded in sustainable development is one of its primary goals. In this context, he highlighted the importance of such laboratories in modernizing teaching, research, and innovation activities at the university. Expressing his gratitude to all those who contributed to the establishment of the laboratory, the Rector encouraged staff, students, and master’s students to actively benefit from the opportunities created.

Following the ceremony, faculty members and students demonstrated the laboratory’s capabilities through practical experiments and sample analyses.

The laboratory tour generated great interest among participants.

It should be noted that at MSU, which is undergoing a process of modernization, the creation of relevant infrastructure aimed at improving the quality of education and increasing the efficiency of scientific research remains a key priority.
