A Training on ‘International Education Standards and ESG Principles’ Held at Mingachevir State University

On September 24, 2025, a training session on “International Education Standards and ESG Principles” was held at Mingachevir State University (MSU), organized by the Quality Assurance and Sustainable Development Department (QASDD). Group representatives from the Faculties of Economics and Management, Engineering, and Education participated in the training.

The session was moderated by Lamiyə İbrahimova, Chief Specialist of the QASDD. In her opening remarks, she highlighted the importance of the ESG (Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area) framework in ensuring quality within the European Higher Education Area. She emphasized the crucial role of student engagement in enhancing the quality of education and supporting continuous improvement processes. She also provided an overview of ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering a quality culture at the university, including the implementation of feedback and suggestion mechanisms.

Subsequently, department specialists Aytən Musayeva and Tamara Xanlayeva delivered presentations covering key aspects of international education standards, internal quality assurance systems, and ESG-aligned practices. Their presentations focused on the role of quality representatives, student-centered learning approaches, principles of transparency and accountability, as well as preparations for international accreditation processes. In addition, detailed information was provided on the implementation of quality management systems in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 21001 standards and continuous improvement mechanisms.

During the training, particular emphasis was placed on the active participation of students in surveys, the systematic collection and analysis of feedback, and engagement on social media platforms as essential tools for quality assurance in line with ESG principles. The importance of informing relevant university units about ongoing changes and developments was also highlighted as a key component of institutional improvement.

At the end of the session, the Head of the QASDD, Azad Mirzəbəyov, addressed participants’ questions and noted that the suggestions and feedback provided would be taken into consideration in further enhancing the university’s quality assurance system.
