Within the framework of its sustainable development and green campus strategy, Mingachevir State University (MSU) continues to implement initiatives aimed at protecting biodiversity and strengthening ecological balance.
In order to protect bird species living on the university campus and support their safe habitat, specially designed birdhouses have been installed on trees across the campus area. This initiative contributes to the preservation of the natural ecosystem within the campus, the enhancement of biodiversity in the urban environment, and the promotion of environmental sustainability.
It should be noted that a total of 28 specially designed birdhouses have been installed on trees located in different parts of the university’s 8.5-hectare green campus area. The initiative supports the conservation of biodiversity in the urban ecosystem, provides safe shelter for birds, and contributes to the protection of natural habitats.
The installed birdhouses not only create favorable conditions for various bird species to safely inhabit the campus but also contribute to the development of a nature-friendly and environmentally sustainable campus environment. At the same time, the initiative plays an important role in strengthening environmental awareness, fostering sensitivity toward nature, and promoting social responsibility among students and staff.
The implemented activities align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to “Life on Land,” “Sustainable Cities and Communities,” and “Climate Action.” In addition, these initiatives support the strengthening of the university’s green campus policy and its performance indicators in international sustainability rankings.
Mingachevir State University has identified the protection of biodiversity, the promotion of environmental sustainability, and the development of a nature-oriented campus environment among its key priorities for the future.
