On March 13, 2026, a competition titled “Digital Land Monitoring Platform” (“The Land of the Future – Digital Monitoring”) was held at the Mingachevir Youth House, organized by Mingachevir State University.
A total of six teams consisting of 1–5 members participated in the competition with innovative projects at the idea stage. Participants were assigned technical tasks aimed at developing digital and technological solutions in the field of land monitoring. Within this framework, research and project presentations were carried out on topics such as soil moisture measurement, preparation of salinity maps, satellite monitoring and mobile application interfaces, mechanisms for determining soil salinity, and other related areas.
The presented projects covered practical and relevant directions including smart analysis systems for regional farmers, smart analysis of soil data, determination of moisture through satellite and artificial intelligence technologies, satellite-based soil monitoring and management through mobile applications, as well as the identification of soil salinity.
In addition to the academic staff of Mingachevir State University, representatives of the business sector were also included in the jury panel for evaluating the projects. Agronomist, farmer, and entrepreneur Elvin Atakishiyev participated as a jury member and shared his views with students on the requirements of the real sector and practical approaches.
According to the evaluation of the jury panel, the AgroScan team won first place, the Zirve team took second place, and the Terrasence team was awarded third place.
It should be noted that Mingachevir State University regularly implements such competitions and initiatives aimed at developing students’ innovative thinking, strengthening their ability to provide technological solutions to real problems, and increasing their practice-oriented knowledge and skills.
