Seminar on “Sustainable Renewable Energy Solutions and Technological Innovations” held at Mingachevir State University

A scientific seminar titled “Sustainable Renewable Energy Solutions and Technological Innovations” was held at Mingachevir State University, jointly organized by the Faculty of Engineering and the Departments of Information Technologies and Energy Engineering. The event served as an important discussion platform addressing the transformation processes in Azerbaijan’s energy sector, the application of renewable energy sources, and the development of innovative technologies.

Opening the seminar, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Almaz Aliyeva noted that the efficient and sustainable use of energy resources has become one of the key priorities of global development in the modern era. She emphasized that climate change, energy security concerns, and increasing environmental challenges are encouraging countries around the world to turn toward alternative and renewable energy sources.

During the event, Head of the Department of Information Technologies Aida Mustafayeva and Head of the Department of Energy Engineering Kamala Eyyubova delivered presentations highlighting the development prospects of Azerbaijan’s “green energy” strategy and the application of digital technologies in the energy sector. It was noted that the declaration of the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions as “green energy zones” marks the beginning of a new phase in the country’s energy policy and underscores the importance of conducting scientific research in this field.

Within the framework of the seminar, several presentations on topical issues were delivered by lecturers and master’s students. Maryam Asadova, lecturer of the Department of Information Technologies, presented on “Evaluation of Energy Management in Smart Cities,” analyzing the role of energy management systems within the smart city concept. Leyla Shukurova delivered a presentation titled “Energy Efficiency and Green Technologies,” discussing research on optimizing energy consumption and implementing environmentally friendly technologies.

Madina Aliyeva, a master’s student of the Department of Energy Engineering, presented on the application of energy storage systems in urban power grids and the management of demand to smooth peak loads, introducing modern technological approaches in this field. Elgiz Mahmudov, lecturer of the Department of Information Technologies, explained the role of energy storage technologies in sustainable energy systems and highlighted their importance for the future energy infrastructure.

The final presentation of the seminar was delivered by Tural Gasimov, a master’s student of the Department of Information Technologies, who spoke about the application of modern PLC technologies in automating functional blocks within the energy industry.

At the end of the event, extensive discussions were held among participants. Views were exchanged on the development of renewable energy sources, the application of artificial intelligence and smart grids in energy management systems, and the expansion of university–industry cooperation. It was emphasized that such scientific seminars make an important contribution to the development of research in the energy sector, the promotion of innovative ideas, and the encouragement of young researchers’ scientific activities.

The seminar was also evaluated as a significant platform for advancing Azerbaijan’s “green energy” strategy on a scientific basis and for shaping a sustainable energy policy.
