“Green Book Exchange – Bring Your Old Book” Sustainable Book Sharing Initiative is Being Implemented at MSU

At Mingachevir State University (MSU), the “Green Book Exchange – Bring Your Old Book” sustainable book-sharing initiative is being implemented within the framework of the “Read for Tomorrow – Mingachevir State University Sustainable Book Fair” in line with promoting the values of science, enlightenment, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.

The fair, held from May 20 to 22, 2026, aims to contribute to the promotion of reading culture at MSU, broader access to knowledge resources, strengthening educational awareness activities, and enhancing university–community cooperation. One of the key components of the fair, the “Bring Your Old Book” stand, serves to promote efficient resource use, book reuse, and environmental responsibility through book exchange.

Within the initiative, students, academic staff, and administrative personnel bring books they have already used to a specially designated stand and share them with other readers. The book exchange platform, which includes literary, scientific, technical, and educational publications, plays an important role in enriching the intellectual environment at the university, strengthening social solidarity, and ensuring the continuity of knowledge sharing.

As part of the project, encouraging the reuse of books is carried out in line with MSU’s sustainable development priorities by reducing paper waste, promoting responsible resource management, and supporting green campus principles. At the same time, the initiative contributes to strengthening students’ reading habits, promoting lifelong learning, and fostering a culture of environmental awareness and social responsibility.

The implementation of such initiatives that integrate education, science, and social responsibility reflects MSU’s broader efforts to create an innovative, inclusive, and sustainable higher education environment.
