The Largest Water Research Laboratory in the Region Inaugurated at Mingachevir State University

On March 6, 2026, an opening ceremony was held at Mingachevir State University (MSU) to mark the launch of the Regional Water Excellence and Sustainability Laboratory. The event was attended by the Rector of the university, Anar Eminov, members of the academic and administrative staff, as well as faculty from the Department of Physics and Ecology.

It was emphasized during the ceremony that the establishment of the new laboratory represents a significant step toward the scientific study of water resources at MSU, enabling more precise monitoring of water quality indicators and the development of practical solutions to water-related challenges relevant to the region. Rector Anar Eminov highlighted that the laboratory strengthens the university’s research capacity and creates new opportunities for both awareness-raising and applied initiatives related to water security and environmental well-being.

The laboratory has been equipped with modern instruments and tools designed to conduct comprehensive water analyses. These include devices for measuring physical and chemical parameters such as pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, hardness, and turbidity, as well as for identifying key components including nitrates, phosphates, chlorides, and other relevant indicators. In addition, the necessary infrastructure has been established for sample collection and preparation, including filtration, storage, and safe handling procedures.

The new facility will enable MSU’s academic staff and researchers to carry out more systematic scientific investigations in the fields of water and environmental studies, while also providing students with the opportunity to acquire practical skills through hands-on laboratory experience. Furthermore, the laboratory will contribute to expanding water-related research in the region by supporting local needs through scientific measurement and analysis, applying methodological approaches to water quality assessment, and ensuring that findings inform practical decision-making processes.

It should be noted that the Regional Water Excellence and Sustainability Laboratory will serve as a scientific and applied platform that strengthens university–community collaboration, promoting the protection of water quality, efficient use of resources, timely identification of ecological risks, and the advancement of sustainable approaches grounded in scientific evidence.
