Mingachevir State University Hosts “Enhancing Employability Skills through Innovative Solutions” Hackathon

Mingachevir State University organized a hackathon titled “Enhancing Employability Skills through Innovative Solutions” with the aim of contributing to the preparation of flexible and competitive professionals in line with the dynamic demands of the modern labor market. The event was jointly organized by the Lifelong Learning School and the Internship and Career Department, creating both a theoretical and practice-oriented innovation platform for participants.

The main focus of the hackathon was not only to identify the skills required in the labor market but also to develop technological and innovative solutions aimed at strengthening these competencies. Participants analyzed key skills relevant in today’s professional world—such as digital literacy, analytical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, effective communication, and teamwork—and worked on projects that accelerate development in these areas.

Among the ideas presented by the teams were smart platforms for assessing individual skills, career guidance systems, digital tools that facilitate alignment with labor market demands, and online training and development environments. These projects were designed to help young people better identify their potential and build goal-oriented development plans.

One of the distinguishing features of the event was that participants worked on scenarios closely resembling real workplace environments. By analyzing existing gaps in the labor market, they developed solutions that meet employer expectations and have practical applicability. This approach ensured that the projects went beyond conceptual ideas and demonstrated real implementation potential.

During the hackathon, participants engaged in intensive teamwork within a creative environment, transforming their ideas into functional project models within a short period. This process significantly strengthened their strategic thinking, innovative approach, rapid decision-making, and effective collaboration skills.

At the final stage, teams presented their projects to the jury panel. The evaluation criteria included the innovativeness of ideas, relevance to the labor market, technological justification, user orientation, and implementation potential. The most successful projects were specially recognized, and participants were provided with practical recommendations for further development and real-world application.

The “Enhancing Employability Skills through Innovative Solutions” hackathon has been remembered as one of the key initiatives that enables students to go beyond theoretical knowledge, enrich their practical skills, adapt to the changing demands of the labor market, and plan their career development more effectively. Such initiatives make a significant contribution to fostering a career-oriented innovation environment at the university and preparing young people for their future professional lives.
