An idea competition titled “The City of the Future” was organized at Mingachevir State University (MSU) with the aim of promoting innovative thinking, generating creative ideas for the future development of urban environments, and encouraging students to propose technological approaches to modern urbanization challenges.

The event was implemented as a joint initiative of the Departments of Mechanics and Information Technologies of MSU. The competition provided students with an opportunity to develop city models based on the principles of sustainable development and present innovative solutions.

Within the framework of the competition, participants developed various creative ideas on how future cities could be shaped. The teams presented projects and concepts in areas such as smart city technologies, environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, intelligent transportation systems, digital infrastructure, and innovative urban governance solutions. The presented ideas addressed key issues such as improving quality of life in urban environments, efficient use of resources, and maintaining ecological balance.

The main objective of the event was to enhance students’ creative and analytical thinking skills and to encourage them to generate new ideas in the fields of urban planning and technological innovation. Working in teams, participants developed conceptual projects reflecting models of future cities and delivered presentations justifying their social, technological, and environmental advantages.

In the final stage of the competition, participating teams presented their ideas to a jury panel. The evaluation was based on criteria such as innovativeness, application potential, contribution to the urban environment, and compliance with sustainable development principles. The most interesting and promising ideas selected by the jury were specially recognized, and participants were provided with recommendations for further development.

It should be noted that, Mingachevir State University regularly implements such initiatives aimed at fostering interdisciplinary knowledge, promoting innovative thinking, and enhancing students’ practical skills based on modern technologies.
