Competition on “Digital Soil Monitoring Platform” Held at Mingachevir State University

On March 13, 2026, Mingachevir State University organized a competition titled “Digital Soil Monitoring Platform” (Soil of the Future – Digital Monitoring) at the Mingachevir Youth House.

A total of 6 teams, each consisting of 1–5 members, participated in the competition with innovative projects at the idea stage. The participants were assigned technical tasks focused on developing digital and technological solutions in the field of soil monitoring. Within this framework, projects addressed topics such as soil moisture measurement, salinity mapping, satellite monitoring and mobile application interfaces, mechanisms for detecting soil salinity, and other related directions.

The presented projects covered practical and relevant areas including smart analysis systems for regional farmers, intelligent soil data analysis, determining soil moisture using satellite and artificial intelligence technologies, satellite-based soil monitoring integrated with mobile applications, and mechanisms for identifying soil salinity.

The evaluation of the projects was carried out by a jury consisting of representatives from both academia and industry. Agronomist, farmer, and entrepreneur Mr. Elvin Atakishiyev participated as a jury member and shared insights with students regarding real-sector expectations and practical approaches.

According to the jury’s evaluation, the AgroScan team was awarded first place, the Zirva team secured second place, and the Terrasence team took third place.

It should be noted that Mingachevir State University regularly implements such initiatives to foster innovative thinking among students, enhance their ability to provide technological solutions to real-world problems, and strengthen their practical knowledge and skills.
