Mingachevir State University hosted the “Gender-Based Social Problem Solving” Hackathon aimed at promoting gender equality, enhancing social inclusion, and fostering innovative approaches to societal challenges. The event was jointly organized by the Internship and Career Department and the IT Department.
Within the hackathon, participants analyzed existing social challenges related to gender equality and developed innovative solutions to address inequalities in education, labor markets, digital environments, and public services. Teams created projects combining technological and social approaches, resulting in ideas with practical implementation potential.
The solutions presented included educational digital platforms, gender-based awareness systems, anonymous support and reporting channels, as well as analytical tools for monitoring social behaviors. These approaches aimed to establish modern and sustainable mechanisms promoting gender equality.
The main goal of the event was to strengthen students’ sense of social responsibility, enhance their ability to approach social challenges innovatively, and develop solutions capable of creating real social impact through technology.
During intensive group work, participants quickly transformed their ideas into functional concepts, further developing analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. The projects were evaluated for both social impact and technological justification.
In the final stage, the projects were assessed by an expert panel based on innovation, implementability, social benefit, and sustainability. The most promising ideas were selected, recommendations for further development were provided, and collaboration opportunities were discussed.
The “Gender-Based Social Problem Solving” Hackathon was recognized as an important initiative that strengthens students’ sensitivity to social justice and equality, fosters innovative thinking, and contributes to the development of society-oriented solutions.
