Mingachevir State University and ASELSAN Baku LLC to Partner in High Technologies: Telecommunications Lab, Training, and Technical Support Discussed

On April 28, 2026, a delegation led by the Rector of Mingachevir State University, Anar Eminov, visited ASELSAN Baku LLC. The delegation was welcomed by the company’s Executive Director, Ozgur Kurum.

During the meeting, the parties held extensive discussions on expanding university–industry collaboration, particularly focusing on joint activities in engineering, innovation, and applied research.

Rector Anar Eminov provided an overview of the structural and content reforms implemented at Mingachevir State University in recent years, emphasizing ongoing efforts to strengthen university–industry integration. He highlighted that aligning education with real sector needs, enhancing students’ practical skills, and promoting applied research are among the university’s key priorities. In this regard, cooperation with high-tech industrial entities such as ASELSAN Baku is considered strategically important.

Ozgur Kurum, in turn, presented information about the company’s operations, noting that ASELSAN Baku is one of the leading players in Azerbaijan’s defense industry and high-technology sector, distinguished by advanced engineering solutions and innovative technologies. He emphasized that the company specializes in electronic systems, communication technologies, and defense and security solutions, and expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation with local higher education institutions.

The meeting also resulted in an agreement for a visit by ASELSAN Baku representatives to Mingachevir State University in May, where they will meet with faculty members and students. In addition to organizing industrial internships for students in engineering and IT fields, implementing joint research projects, applying industry-based education models, and involving industry experts in the teaching process, several concrete areas of cooperation were discussed.

These include the establishment of a communication and telecommunications laboratory at the university, the involvement of staff and students in professional training programs, the use and technical maintenance of the company’s communication equipment within the university, and joint participation in developing infrastructure related to unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

Furthermore, within the framework of academic mobility, the organization of study visits for exchange students to ASELSAN’s offices in Türkiye was also highlighted as a перспектив area of cooperation.

Following the meeting, the MDU delegation toured ASELSAN Baku’s production facilities and was briefed in detail on the advanced technological processes and production capabilities implemented within the company.

It should be noted that the visit is considered an important step toward deepening university–industry collaboration and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships.
