Mingachevir State University Hosts “Social Entrepreneurship Startup Competition”

Mingachevir State University has hosted the “Social Entrepreneurship Startup Competition” aimed at promoting innovative business initiatives that address social challenges, as well as developing students’ social responsibility and entrepreneurial skills.

Organized through the joint collaboration of the Department of Humanities and the Department of Information Technologies, the competition created a dynamic and creative environment for young people to develop ideas with social impact. The event contributed significantly to promoting social innovation and responsible entrepreneurship within the university.

During the event, speakers emphasized the role of social entrepreneurship in sustainable development and highlighted the importance of creating social value alongside economic activity.

Within the framework of the competition, participants developed sustainable business models that generate not only economic profit but also tangible social benefits. Student teams presented innovative startup projects in areas such as promoting social equality, improving access to education and healthcare, addressing environmental challenges, and supporting vulnerable groups. The proposed ideas were designed to ensure both social impact and economic sustainability.

One of the key features of the competition was participants’ ability to deeply understand the concept of social entrepreneurship and tailor their ideas to real-world problems. While developing their projects, teams considered both market mechanisms and social needs, aiming to build balanced and effective business models.

Throughout the event, participants enhanced their teamwork, analytical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills. Particular attention was also given to measuring social impact and ensuring the long-term sustainability of projects, which increased the practicality and applicability of the presented solutions.

At the final stage, teams presented their startup projects to a jury panel. The evaluation was based on criteria such as social impact, innovation, feasibility, and sustainability. The most successful and promising projects were selected, and participants received guidance and recommendations for further development.

The event was attended by representatives of the university administration, faculty members, and experts in relevant fields.

It should be noted that the “Social Entrepreneurship Startup Competition” stands out as an important initiative contributing to students’ development in both entrepreneurship and social responsibility. Mingachevir State University will continue to support such initiatives to promote socially impactful innovations and encourage youth engagement in meaningful societal contributions.
