Sustainable Development Committee of Mingachevir State University Defines Strategic Priorities for the Next Phase

The Sustainable Development Committee of Mingachevir State University held an extended meeting to determine the activity directions for the upcoming three months. During the meeting, the current situation was analyzed based on the results of the previous period, and specific actions were identified to improve resource efficiency and enhance institutional performance.

The analysis indicates that the foundation established in the field of sustainable development at the university is sufficient to move to the next stage. The existing infrastructure, human resources, and organizational approach necessitate more precise indicator-based strategic planning and strengthened results-oriented management. In this regard, the focus in the upcoming period will be not only on the implementation of activities but also on their measurable outcomes and proper documentation.

During the meeting, in-depth analysis and planning were conducted in the following key areas:

1. Resource optimization and measurable management
Systematic monitoring of energy, water, and other resource consumption will be implemented, and digital tracking mechanisms will be introduced. The objective is not only to reduce consumption but also to ensure accurate measurement and comparative analysis of actual results.

2. Expansion of green infrastructure and biodiversity
In addition to increasing green areas on campus, improving the quality indicators of existing spaces, increasing plant diversity, and strengthening ecosystem sustainability have been identified as priority directions.

3. Integrated approach to waste management
It is planned to manage waste sorting, recycling, and transportation processes through a unified system, expand cooperation with relevant partners, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

4. Increasing awareness and participation
New incentive mechanisms will be developed to engage students and staff in sustainability processes, and practice-oriented activities and applied projects will be expanded. This approach will contribute to the formation of an institutional culture.

5. Strengthening governance and accountability mechanisms
Ensuring that activities are documented in accordance with international standards, building a strong evidence base, and increasing transparency in reporting have been identified as key priorities.

In addition, in order to promote a sustainable lifestyle, increase student engagement, and expand the “green campus” ideology, it is planned to organize the “First MSU Green Campus Sports Festival” for the first time among universities in Azerbaijan. The festival aims to integrate environmental awareness with sports, promote a healthy lifestyle, and foster responsible behavior towards the environment.

During the discussions, it was emphasized that the key differentiating factor in the upcoming phase will be not only the quality of implemented activities but also their strategic alignment and measurable impact indicators. For this purpose, coordination among all structural units will be strengthened, and activities will be implemented under a unified plan.

At the end of the meeting, decisions were made to ensure that activities over the next three months are carried out in a more agile, analytical, and results-oriented manner. Mingachevir State University remains committed to advancing its institutional development in the field of sustainable development by adopting best management practices and delivering measurable outcomes.
