Cybersecurity training on the use of Wireshark held at Mingachevir State University

A cybersecurity training session on the use of Wireshark software was held at Mingachevir State University for students of the Information Technologies specialty, group InT 25.

The training was conducted by Gulyaz Ismayilzade, a specialist of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Association. The main purpose of the training was to provide students with practical knowledge and skills in monitoring network traffic, analyzing packets, identifying network issues and detecting potential cyberattacks.

During the session, students were introduced to the Wireshark interface, packet capture, filtering rules, TCP/IP protocol analysis, as well as the operating principles of IP addresses, ports and protocols. The trainer also explained methods of examining network traffic from a cybersecurity perspective, identifying suspicious activity and applying initial analysis mechanisms.

Practical examples based on real network traffic were demonstrated by the specialist, allowing students to become familiar with packet structure and the main stages of network analysis. The training was held in an interactive format, with students’ questions answered throughout the session. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of developing practical skills in the field of cybersecurity.

It was noted that Wireshark is one of the widely used tools in cybersecurity, network administration and digital forensics. In this regard, knowledge and skills related to this software are of particular importance for students’ future professional activities.

Mingachevir State University continues to organize training sessions and awareness-raising activities aimed at developing digital skills, practical knowledge in information technologies and modern competencies in the field of cybersecurity.
