Mingachevir State University Hosts Awareness Seminar Against Domestic Violence

On April 15, 2026, an academic-practical seminar on combating domestic violence was organized at Mingachevir State University. The event was jointly organized by Mingachevir State University, the Mingachevir City Executive Authority, and the Mingachevir City Police Department.

The main purpose of the seminar, attended by members of the academic-administrative staff, students, and master’s degree candidates, was to increase public awareness about this sensitive issue and strengthen education regarding legal and social protection mechanisms.

During the seminar, MSU legal advisor Polad Atayev delivered a presentation on “Types of Domestic Violence and the Legal Framework for Combating It.” Gorkhmaz Abbaszade, an employee of the Mingachevir City Executive Authority and member of the “Monitoring and Coordination Group for the Prevention of Domestic Violence,” spoke on “Measures Implemented by Local Executive Authorities in Preventing Domestic Violence.”

In addition, Chief Inspector of the Mingachevir City Police Department, Police Captain Goshgar Ahmadli, presented on “Prevention and Awareness: The Activities of Internal Affairs Officers in Combating Violence,” while Gultekin Knyazova, lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of MSU, spoke on “Psychological Support and Rehabilitation Methods for Victims of Domestic Violence.” The speakers provided detailed information on the work being carried out in this field.

At the end of the event, a video reflecting the social and psychological consequences of domestic violence was presented. Participants’ questions were answered, and extensive discussions were held around the topic.
