On February 9, 2026, Mingachevir State University officially launched the international 5-day training program on “Using Artificial Intelligence Tools in Education.” The training is organized in line with the digital development strategies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, aiming to introduce innovative approaches in higher education, strengthen human capital, and develop digital competencies.

Against the backdrop of rapidly accelerating global digital transformation, integrating artificial intelligence technologies into the educational environment is recognized as a key direction for modernizing higher education. The training program serves these strategic goals. In addition to Mingachevir State University, renowned scholars and experts from leading Turkish universities – Middle East Technical University, OSTİM Technical University, Gazi University, TED University, Kahramanmaraş İstiklal University, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University – participated, enhancing the scientific-methodological level and international significance of the event.

The training was conducted online via the Microsoft Teams platform, with sessions held from 11:00–12:00 and 15:00–16:00 (Azerbaijan time). Participants joined via QR codes and actively engaged in interactive discussions. A total of 89 participants attended the module.

The first day of the training focused on “Scientific-Conceptual Framework and Global Perspective of AI-Based Education.” The module was moderated by Natavan Namazova, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs at MSU. The first scientific report was presented by Dr. Hacer Karacan, Professor at Gazi University, on “Scientific Foundations of Artificial Intelligence Technologies and Their Application Models in Higher Education.” The presentation covered theoretical and methodological foundations of AI, global education trends, transformation processes in higher education, the evolving role of teachers, and the development of digital competencies. Following the session, participants engaged in practical simulations, acquiring hands-on skills for applying AI tools in teaching.

The second session of the day was delivered by Dr. Alparslan Durmuş, Professor at OSTİM Technical University, on “Preparation of Educational Content Using Artificial Intelligence.” The presentation explained the use of generative AI tools, including Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, and ChatGPT, for developing teaching materials and assessment mechanisms. In addition, the functional features of Turnitin and iThenticate were discussed to ensure academic integrity and prevent plagiarism. Participants applied AI-based teaching tools in simulated real educational environments.

Overall, this international training program contributes significantly to strengthening the scientific-methodological foundation for the effective application of AI in higher education, expanding international collaboration, and enhancing the scientific-pedagogical potential of the region. The program will continue over the following days, discussing the systematic implementation of AI-based innovative approaches in higher education.
