An awareness-raising video on rules of conduct during an earthquake is being shown at Mingachevir State University

An awareness-raising video titled “What to Do During an Earthquake?”, prepared by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, is being shown at Mingachevir State University in order to develop safe behavior habits during emergencies and raise awareness among the university community.

The video is regularly broadcast on the monitor located in the main foyer of the university. It is also shared on MSU’s official social media accounts and official website, making it accessible to students, staff, and the wider public.

The awareness-raising material provides important information on proper rules of conduct during an earthquake, avoiding panic, choosing a safe position, staying away from windows, glass showcases, heavy furniture, and electrical equipment, as well as key points to consider while moving inside buildings and in open areas. The video also explains basic safety rules such as not using elevators during an earthquake, not rushing to staircases, taking shelter under a table or a solid structure, and protecting the head and neck area.

In addition, awareness-raising activities at the university in the field of emergency preparedness are not limited to the demonstration of the video. The Commission established at Mingachevir State University on emergency situations regularly conducts educational discussions among students on rules of conduct during earthquakes and other natural disasters. During these meetings, students are provided with detailed information on initial behavior rules in emergency situations, safe evacuation, prevention of panic, individual responsibility, and collective safety.

The demonstration of the awareness-raising video and the organization of educational discussions are of great importance in terms of strengthening a safe university environment at MSU, increasing the level of preparedness for emergencies, and forming a culture of responsible behavior among students.

It should be noted that the main goal during an earthquake is to remain calm and protect oneself and others from danger. People indoors should stay away from windows and glass surfaces, take shelter under a sturdy table or protective structure, and should not attempt to leave the building while the shaking continues. People in open areas should move away from buildings, power lines, trees, and other dangerous objects, and proceed to an open and safe area.

Mingachevir State University considers the protection of the life and health of students and staff as one of its priority areas and continues awareness-raising activities related to emergencies, safety, initial rules of conduct, and risk reduction.
