On April 28, 2026, a delegation led by the Rector of Mingachevir State University (MSU), Anar Eminov, visited “Aselsan Baku” LLC. The delegation was welcomed by the Executive Director of the company, Özgür Kürüm.
During the meeting, an in-depth exchange of views was held on expanding university–industry cooperation, particularly focusing on joint activities in engineering, innovation, and applied research.
Rector Anar Eminov provided information on the structural and content-based reforms implemented at Mingachevir State University in recent years, especially the steps taken to strengthen university–industry integration. He noted that aligning education with the needs of the real sector, enhancing students’ practical skills, and promoting applied research are among MSU’s key priorities. In this regard, cooperation with high-tech industrial entities such as “Aselsan Baku” is of strategic importance for the university.
Özgür Kürüm, in turn, spoke about the activities of the organization he leads, emphasizing that “Aselsan Baku” LLC is one of the prominent companies playing a significant role in Azerbaijan’s defense industry and high-tech sector, distinguished by advanced engineering solutions and innovative technologies. He highlighted that the company specializes in various areas, including electronic systems, communication technologies, and defense and security solutions, and expressed their interest in expanding cooperation with local higher education institutions.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached regarding a visit of the “Aselsan Baku” delegation to Mingachevir State University in May, including meetings with staff and students. In addition, several concrete areas of cooperation were discussed, such as organizing industrial internships for students in engineering and IT fields, implementing joint research projects, applying industry-based education models, and involving industry experts in the teaching process. Specific initiatives considered include the establishment of a communication and telecommunications laboratory at the university, engagement of staff and students in professional training programs, the use and technical maintenance of the company’s communication equipment within the university, and joint participation in developing infrastructure related to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
At the same time, within the framework of academic mobility, the organization of study visits for exchange students to ASELSAN’s offices in Türkiye was also noted among the prospective areas of cooperation.
Following the meeting, the MSU delegation toured the production facilities of “Aselsan Baku” LLC and received detailed information about the modern technological processes and production capabilities implemented within the company.
It should be noted that the visit is considered an important step towards further strengthening university–industry collaboration and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships.
