Green Campus Meets Sports at Mingachevir State University: “MDU Green Campus Sports Festival” to Be Held

On May 10, 2026, the “MDU Green Campus Sports Festival” will be held at Mingachevir State University, jointly organized by Mingachevir State University and the Central Aran Regional Youth and Sports Department. The festival is dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The event will take place at the “Kur” Olympic Training and Sports Center in Mingachevir.

Serving as a clear example of the university’s commitment to social responsibility, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and environmental sustainability, the festival reflects the practical implementation of MDU’s “Green Campus” concept. The main objective of the event is to promote a healthy lifestyle among students and academic staff, increase physical activity, and foster environmentally responsible behavior.

Within the framework of the festival, various sports competitions will be organized among the university’s academic staff and students. Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in running, volleyball, table tennis, cycling, swimming, and football. The competitions will be held in both individual and team formats, encouraging a spirit of healthy competition.

The “MDU Green Campus Sports Festival” is not only a sporting event but also an important platform for strengthening environmental awareness at the university, promoting sustainable lifestyles, and increasing student engagement. As part of the festival, awareness messages will be delivered to encourage eco-friendly behavior, foster a nature-conscious mindset, and integrate “green thinking” into everyday life.

It should be noted that within the framework of its 2030 Development Strategy, Mingachevir State University has identified the “Green Campus” approach as one of its priority areas and continues to implement initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. Events like this make a significant contribution to building a healthy, active, and environmentally responsible academic environment.
