A memorial event was held at the Martyrs’ Alley of Mingachevir on the anniversary of Tabriz Jumazada, who heroically became a martyr during the Patriotic War in 2020. The commemoration ceremony was attended by members of martyr families, war veterans and disabled veterans, representatives of the leadership of the Mingachevir City Executive Authority, heads of general education schools, members of the city community, Rector of Mingachevir State University Anar Eminov, a group of lecturers, and students.
The event began with a one-minute silence in honor of the cherished memory of Azerbaijan’s heroic martyrs.
The opening speeches were delivered by the martyr’s parents, Ildirim Abdurrahimov and Ulviyya Abdurrahimova. They spoke about their son Tabriz’s patriotism, life journey, and heroism, and expressed gratitude to the country’s and city’s leadership for the high level of attention and care shown to martyr families. The parents emphasized the importance of raising young people in the spirit of loyalty to the Motherland and stated that the memory of Tabriz Jumazada is always honored with great respect.
In his speech, Sahib Aliyev, Head of the Department for Work with Patriotic War Participants and Martyr Families of the Mingachevir City Executive Authority, stated that every martyr who sacrificed their life for the Motherland lives forever in the memory of the Azerbaijani people and emphasized that state support and care for martyr families continue in a consistent and systematic manner. He noted that the heroism of Tabriz Jumazada serves as an example for young people and highlighted that memorial events dedicated to martyrs are regularly organized in the city.
Rector of Mingachevir State University Anar Eminov stated in his speech that martyrs are a source of pride for the Azerbaijani people. He emphasized that thanks to the sacrifices made by heroes such as Tabriz Jumazada, Azerbaijan’s independence and territorial integrity were ensured. The rector also underlined that special importance is attached at the university to educating young people in the spirit of national and moral values, statehood ideals, and patriotism, and noted that martyr families are always kept in the center of attention.
Other officials, members of martyr families, and guests also addressed the event, stating that the memory of the martyrs is sacred for the Azerbaijani people and that their examples of heroism serve as a true school and a great source of inspiration for future generations.
The memorial ceremony concluded with the laying of flowers at the grave of the martyr.
