Mingachevir State University Launches a New Ecological Research Project Contributing to Sustainable Development and the Green Economy

Scientific research activities in the fields of the green economy and sustainable development continue to expand at Mingachevir State University. The university’s latest scientific initiative is dedicated to the protection of the Caspian coastal ecosystems, the assessment of anthropogenic impacts, and the scientific investigation of environmental threats.

Within the framework of the project titled “Visual-Microscopic Comparative Study of Sand, Vegetation Cover, and Anthropogenic Particles in Protected and Public Use Zones of the Caspian Coast in the Context of the Green Economy,” field observations, laboratory analyses of collected samples, and microscopic evaluations are being carried out. The primary objective of the research is to determine the level of microplastics and other anthropogenic pollutants in coastal zones, assess ecological risks, and contribute scientifically to sustainable coastal management.

The project is being implemented by MSU Associate Professor and Faculty Dean Nushaba Gadimli together with MSU master’s student and young researcher Ulvi Mammadov. The study, which applies modern laboratory methodologies, contributes to strengthening student–research collaboration at the university and encourages the active involvement of young researchers in sustainable development initiatives.

It is emphasized that the outcomes of the research will have practical significance in the areas of environmental awareness, biodiversity protection, and enhancing ecosystem resilience along the Caspian coastline.
