Consistent steps are being taken at Mingachevir State University (MSU) to build tourism education on practical and digital foundations

The newly established “Tourism Skills Lab” was established to develop the practical skills of students studying tourism-oriented specialties and to form their experience working in real hotel systems. The laboratory plans to organize classes based on “ElektraWeb”, “Opera”, “HBO” and other specialized programs. This provides students with the opportunity to learn practical real-world processes such as guest reception, reservation management, analytical reporting, and PMS integration.

As a continuation of this initiative, on November 5, 2025, MSU teachers Vafa Mustafazadeh and Taleh Huseynov participated in the online training program “Digitalizing the Future of Tourism” organized by the Turkish Tayla Company. The main goal of the training was to study the functional capabilities of the “Elektra Web” program, which is widely used in the tourism and hotel industry.

Within the framework of the program, participants improved both their theoretical and practical knowledge in the reservation, accommodation, folio, forecast, and task management modules.

It should be noted that the launch of the “Tourism Skills Lab” aims to synchronize the educational process in the field of tourism at Mingachevir  State University with modern technologies. The laboratory’s activities will make a significant contribution to the future development of students as more competitive and professional personnel in the tourism industry.

These initiatives are considered as important steps taken towards the digitalization of tourism education at Mingachevir State University, the creation of an innovative environment, and the integration of academic staff into modern tourism technologies.
