Mingachevir State University Builds the Region’s First Large-Scale Scientific Collaboration Platform in Psychology: Multidisciplinary Conference on Psychology Held in Mingachevir

On April 24, 2026, the conference entitled “Multidisciplinary Scientific Research in Psychology,” jointly organized by Mingachevir State University (MSU), the Institute of Psychology Research, and the “Modern Azerbaijani Psychologists” Public Union, commenced its work. Held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Mingachevir, the conference stands out as the region’s first large-scale scientific platform bringing together various fields and approaches within psychology.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ilham Ismayilov, Head of the Mingachevir City Executive Authority; Anar Ismayilov, Chairman of the Mingachevir Municipality; Bakhtiyar Mustafayev, Chairman of the Mingachevir City Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party; Anar Nagiyev, Rector of Baku Slavic University; Anar Eminov, Rector of Mingachevir State University; Elnur Rustamov, Chairman of the Institute of Psychology Research; senior representatives of law enforcement agencies; scientists, academic staff, psychologists, researchers, students, and master’s candidates representing 27 institutions and organizations, as well as media representatives.

Before the event, participants visited the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, honored his memory with deep respect, and laid flowers at the monument. The official part of the conference began with a minute of silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Opening the conference, Ilham Ismayilov, Head of the Mingachevir City Executive Authority, emphasized the importance of holding such scientific platforms in the regions. He noted that in the modern era, the role of scientific research in ensuring psychological well-being, strengthening the family institution, and supporting sustainable social development is steadily increasing. He highlighted that the multidisciplinary approach enhances integration across various fields and contributes to the development of practical solutions. Expressing confidence that the scientific outcomes of the conference would positively contribute to the region’s social development, he wished success to the event.

Speaking afterwards, MSU Rector Anar Eminov described the organization of the conference as an important step toward expanding the university’s scientific research activities and strengthening international cooperation. The rector noted that a total of 265 scientific papers from 27 institutions and organizations had been accepted for the conference. These include contributions from higher education institutions, secondary specialized educational institutions, general education schools, and various support organizations. According to him, these indicators demonstrate the growing scientific interest in psychology and the increasing intensity of research at different levels. Anar Eminov also emphasized that such initiatives contribute to the closer integration of science with education and education with the real needs of society.

In his speech, Anar Nagiyev, Rector of Baku Slavic University, expressed gratitude for the hospitality and stated that such conferences are of special importance for the development of scientific dialogue among higher education institutions, the expansion of experience exchange, and the identification of common research directions. He stressed that psychology is one of the leading fields responding to contemporary challenges and congratulated the organizers on the successful arrangement of the conference.

Elnur Rustamov, Chairman of the Institute of Psychology Research, expressed his appreciation to the leadership and staff of Mingachevir State University for the high-level organization of the conference. He noted that holding such a large-scale scientific event in the region is highly significant for the development of psychological science, bringing together the scientific community, and discussing current issues. Elnur Rustamov stated that he believes the scientific outcomes of the conference will contribute to practical applications and wished success to all presenters in their research activities.

Later, Narinc Rustamova, founder of the Narinc Psychology Center and clinical psychologist, spoke about the growing importance of psychological science for modern society. She emphasized that the multidisciplinary approach enables specialists from different fields to come together and contributes to more effective solutions to real-life problems. Narinc Rustamova also noted that such scientific platforms play an important role in the professional development of young psychologists and in strengthening university-practice cooperation.

Video congratulatory messages from Prof. Dr. Tunç Bozbura, Vice Rector of Bahçeşehir University of Türkiye, and Dr. Akmal Akhatov, Vice Rector of Samarkand State University of Uzbekistan, were also presented during the event. Representatives of partner universities highlighted the significance of the conference, congratulated the organizers, and wished success to the presenters.

The event continued with an artistic program. National musical performances and patriotic compositions presented by university teachers and students added a special emotional atmosphere to the event and were warmly welcomed by the participants.

According to the conference program, the event will continue with panel discussions, section meetings, and practical sessions. On the first day, panel discussions dedicated to changing social roles in family relations will be organized under the moderation of Elnur Rustamov, Chairman of the Institute of Psychology Research. On the following day, panel discussions on inclusivity, equality, and psychological well-being will be moderated by Aydin Karimov, lecturer at the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of MSU.

In addition, section meetings are being organized within the framework of the conference on актуal areas such as general and social psychology, developmental psychology, inclusive education, clinical psychology, and digital transformation. During workshops aimed at developing practical skills, Narinc Rustamova, Head of the Narinc Psychology Center and clinical psychologist, together with the center’s psychologist Sabina Eyubova, will introduce participants to modern psychological approaches.

It should be noted that the conference, covering April 24–25, serves as an important platform for promoting multidisciplinary scientific approaches in psychology, sharing scientific outcomes, and expanding academic cooperation.
