“Green Future Universities – 2026” International Round Table Held at MDU

An international online round table titled “Green Future Universities – International Online Round Table 2026”, dedicated to sustainable development in higher education, green transformation, and international academic cooperation, was held at Mingachevir State University. The event was organized to promote universities’ development strategies aligned with environmental responsibility, sustainable energy policies, green campus management, and international ranking systems.

Representatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Tashkent State Technical University, and Kozybayev University, along with scholars, researchers, and education experts from various countries, participated in the round table. The event was moderated by Natavan Namazova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Mingachevir State University.

Within the framework of the event, current issues related to universities’ sustainable development strategies, climate change adaptation, green energy systems, environmental management mechanisms, and smart campus solutions were discussed.

Representing Tashkent State Technical University, PhD Nargiza Dalmuradova delivered a presentation titled “Climate-Adaptive Assessment of Renewable Energy Systems under Real Operating Conditions.” The presentation provided a comprehensive analysis of evaluating renewable energy systems under real climate and operational conditions, the application of carbon footprint indicators as engineering metrics, and the development of climate-responsive energy models in the Central Asian region.

During her speech, it was emphasized that the concept of “zero emissions” in renewable energy systems should be assessed through a full life-cycle approach, covering not only the operational phase but also production, transportation, installation, and disposal processes. Scientific approaches regarding the impact of climate factors, technical indicators, and operational management on the efficiency of energy systems were also presented.

During the discussions, participants highlighted the importance of expanding higher education institutions’ activities in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and international ranking systems such as UI GreenMetric and Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. In addition, views were exchanged on new initiatives related to inter-university scientific cooperation, sustainable energy research, and the development of a green innovation ecosystem.

It was noted that Mingachevir State University has been strengthening its position in the global higher education landscape through its recent initiatives in green campus approaches, sustainable management, digital transformation, and international academic integration.
