An international online round table titled “Green Future Universities – 2026” dedicated to sustainable development in higher education, green transformation, and international academic cooperation was held at Mingachevir State University (MSU). The event was organized with the aim of strengthening universities’ sustainable development strategies, promoting green campus approaches, and discussing institutional development models aligned with international ranking systems.
The round table was moderated by Natavan Namazova, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation of Mingachevir State University.
Representatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Tashkent State Technical University, and Manash Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University delivered presentations at the event, which was attended by scholars, researchers, and students from various countries.
Representative of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Janar Shortanbayeva delivered a presentation titled “Environmental Initiatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.” The presentation provided information on environmental initiatives implemented at the university, waste management and recycling infrastructure, students’ environmental awareness and volunteer activities, as well as educational approaches based on green energy and sustainable development. In addition, the university’s international cooperation platforms and projects implemented in the field of sustainable development were introduced.
Representative of Tashkent State Technical University, PhD Nargiza Dalmuradova, delivered a presentation titled “Climate-Adaptive Assessment of Renewable Energy Systems under Real Operating Conditions.” The presentation extensively analyzed the evaluation of renewable energy systems under real climate and operational conditions, the application of carbon footprint indicators as engineering criteria, emission factors throughout the life cycle of energy systems, and the formation of climate-adaptive energy models in the Central Asian region.
Representatives of Manash Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University, Marina Pogrebitskaya and Anna Kornilova, delivered presentations on the topic “University Sustainable Development Strategy.” Their presentation highlighted the university’s environmental, social, and governance-based management model, sustainable development strategy, activities related to international sustainability and impact rankings, as well as international projects in the fields of digital monitoring of water resources, bioinformatics, agrarian innovation, and green technologies.
Within the framework of the event, extensive discussions were held on expanding higher education institutions’ activities in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), implementing green university models, environmental responsibility policies, and opportunities for international academic cooperation.
The international round table “Green Future Universities – 2026” was evaluated as an important academic platform serving the strategic goals of Mingachevir State University in the fields of sustainable university models, international visibility, and environmental responsibility.
