Mingachevir State University Students Participate in a Cycling Ride Dedicated to World Bicycle Day: Health in Motion, Environmental Responsibility in Choice

On June 3, 2026, students of Mingachevir State University (MSU) participated in a cycling ride organized on the occasion of World Bicycle Day.

The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, Mingachevir State University, and the Central Aran Regional Youth and Sports Department. It aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle, encourage the use of environmentally friendly modes of transportation, foster cycling culture, and cultivate green thinking for a sustainable future.

The cycling ride started in front of MSU’s Main Academic Building and brought together university students, young people, and cycling enthusiasts. Following a designated route through the city, the ride provided participants with an opportunity to highlight the importance of physical activity while promoting the benefits of alternative transportation methods that contribute to environmental protection.

During the event, representatives of the organizing institutions emphasized the significant role of cycling in reducing carbon emissions, promoting sustainable urban mobility, and encouraging healthier lifestyles. It was noted that the wider adoption of bicycles is one of the important steps toward strengthening environmental responsibility and creating a greener urban environment.

The cycling ride held special significance as part of the “Green University” initiatives implemented at MSU and the university’s activities contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants demonstrated solidarity in promoting healthy living, fostering environmentally responsible attitudes, and raising ecological awareness.
