A scientific-practical seminar of the Chemistry Club titled “The Light of 120 Years: A Bright Peak of Azerbaijani Science” was organized at Mingachevir State University in honor of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the prominent representative of Azerbaijani science and renowned chemist, academician Yusif Mammadaliyev. The event took place on November 19, 2025, in the small assembly hall of the university’s second academic building.
The seminar was officially opened with remarks by National Leader Heydar Aliyev emphasizing the exceptional role of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev in the history of science and public thought. The words of the National Leader — “The life and creativity of Yusif Mammadaliyev … are a great chapter in the history of the Azerbaijani people” — especially highlighted the ideological significance of the event.
The moderator of the seminar, Lala Rasulzada, head of the Chemistry Club, welcomed the participants and spoke about the important role of the academician’s rich scientific heritage in the development of Azerbaijani chemical science.
The event continued with the screening of a video presentation titled “Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev – The Bright Path of Science.” Afterwards, students of the K22 group of Mingachevir State University delivered a presentation about the scientist’s scientific legacy.
The seminar also featured a theatrical performance titled “The Discovery of the Alkylation Process” prepared by students of the K23 group. Later, students of the KB25 group recited selected excerpts from poet Shair Tabib’s poem “Yusif Zirvəsi.”
During the continuation of the event, the winners of the “Chemistry Olympiad” dedicated to the 120th anniversary of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev were awarded. At the end of the seminar, participants held discussions on the topic.
This seminar held at Mingachevir State University was of special importance in terms of introducing the rich scientific heritage of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev to younger generations, increasing interest in science, and promoting deeper understanding of knowledge in the field of chemistry.
