Mingachevir State University (MSU) continues to expand its institutional activities in the fields of sustainable development, green campus management, environmental safety, and the protection of the urban ecosystem. In line with the university’s Green Campus strategy and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a strategic cooperation memorandum has been signed with the Mingachevir City Landscaping and Sanitary Cleaning Department.
The signed memorandum establishes a new phase of university–city cooperation aimed at improving the ecological health of the urban environment, strengthening urban sustainability, expanding green zones, ensuring proper waste management, protecting biodiversity, and promoting environmental awareness.
Within the framework of the memorandum, the parties plan to organize tree-planting campaigns, implement greening activities in various parts of the city, expand green areas within MSU’s Green Campus concept, and realize joint initiatives related to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
The cooperation also предусматривает the implementation of innovative approaches in sanitary cleaning and waste management, the promotion of waste sorting and recycling culture, and the organization of awareness campaigns related to environmental hygiene and urban cleanliness. Conducting cleanliness campaigns within the university campus and public spaces, as well as exchanging practical knowledge on environmental safety and sanitation, will be among the main priorities of the partnership.
The memorandum also envisages the more active involvement of students in practical activities and public initiatives. In this regard, MSU students will participate in environmental projects, monitoring activities, volunteer programs, and social campaigns aimed at improving the ecological condition of the city. In addition, seminars, open lectures, and scientific events on ecology, green economy, sustainable development, and urban environment issues will be organized.
It should be noted that special attention is given in the document to sustainability and innovation components. Efficient use of resources, promotion of environmental responsibility principles, and support for innovative initiatives related to a green world and urban sustainability are among the key strategic directions of the memorandum.
