“Azeraluminium” LLC, Mingachevir State University, and AzTU Contribute to the Integration of Science and Industry in Azerbaijan: A Joint Research Paper Published in a Prestigious Canadian Journal

In his speech at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences on November 3, 2025, President Ilham Aliyev presented a strategic concept that will shape Azerbaijan’s national development, emphasizing that one of the key priorities should be the joint activity of science and industry. In this context, the effectiveness of university–industry collaboration was highlighted as a major priority for the sustainable future development of both the country’s economy and science.

One of the main indicators of successful cooperation between industry and universities is the practical scientific research outcomes achieved through joint activities.

Within the framework of mutual scientific cooperation, a joint research paper titled “Study of the Complex Processing Technology of Alunite Using Sulfurous Acid: A Pilot Approach”, prepared by researchers from Azeraluminium LLC, Azerbaijan Technical University, and Mingachevir State University, has been published in the Canadian Scopus-indexed journal Mathematical Modelling of Engineering Problems.

The research project was carried out at the Ganja Aluminium Production Complex owned by Azeraluminium LLC. Within the framework of the technological pilot project implemented at the complex, the procurement of equipment, establishment of a laboratory environment, and organization of experimental tests were successfully ensured.

The co-authors of the article are Professor Jamil Safarov from “Azeraluminium” LLC; Professor Subhan Namazov, Professor Fakhraddin Yusubov, and Associate Professor Ali Ibrahimov from AzTU; and young scientist Ramil Hasanov from MDU. The active participation of MDU’s young researcher in this project represents another example of transforming the university’s scientific potential into practical outcomes through cooperation with industry.

This scientific research process aims to launch a new stage in the development of Azerbaijan’s modern aluminium industry. The main objective is to establish the aluminium industry entirely on the basis of national resources within a scientific and technological framework. The mentioned article is the second scientific achievement obtained in this field within one year and includes the experimental results of an initial technological pilot project related to the establishment of a new production facility.

It should be noted that, according to the Memorandum signed on July 8, 2025, between Mingachevir State University and Azeraluminium LLC, several areas of cooperation were identified, including conducting joint scientific research, organizing master classes, involving students in industrial internships, and other collaborative initiatives. The current scientific achievement is a clear example of this cooperation producing real, measurable outcomes that contribute to the development of the national industry.
