On December 20 , 2025, Mingachevir State University’s Department of Information Technologies launched a 5-day international training program on “Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools in Education.”
The training aims to support Azerbaijan’s long-term socio-economic development strategies by strengthening human capital, enhancing digital skills, and fostering an innovation-driven educational environment.
This program holds special importance for the transfer of international best practices in higher education, strengthening the region’s scientific and pedagogical capacity, and applying modern teaching methodologies. Alongside MSU, leading universities from Turkey participated, including Middle East Technical University, OSTİM Technical University, Gazi University, TED University, Kahramanmaraş İstiklal University, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, represented by their distinguished scholars and experts.
The first day focused on “Scientific-Conceptual Framework and Global Perspectives of AI-Based Education.” The module was moderated by Natavan Namazova, MSU’s Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs. Sessions were conducted via Microsoft Teams, with participants joining through QR code access.
In the opening scientific presentation, Dr. Hacer Karacan from Gazi University discussed “Scientific Foundations of AI Technologies and Their Application Models in Higher Education,” covering the role of AI in education, global trends, AI-driven transformation processes, the evolving role of teachers, and the importance of digital competencies.
The second session featured Dr. Alparslan Durmuş from OSTİM Technical University, presenting on “Preparing Educational Content with Artificial Intelligence.” The session explored the use of generative AI tools such as Gemini, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, and ChatGPT for creating teaching materials, as well as assessment mechanisms using Turnitin and iThenticate. A practical simulation followed, enabling participants to apply AI-based educational tools in real classroom settings.
This international training is a key step in enhancing AI integration in higher education and strengthening the digital and innovative competencies of both faculty and students at MSU.
