A Debate Competition on “Mathematics Is a Key Factor in the Development of Youth” Was Held at Mingachevir State University

According to the action plan of the Central Aran Regional Education Department, December was declared the “Month of Mathematics and Informatics.” Within the framework of the month, a series of awareness-raising and interactive events were planned to improve the quality of teaching mathematics and informatics, as well as to develop students’ logical reasoning and analytical thinking skills.

For this purpose, cooperation was established with the Department of Mathematics of Mingachevir State University, and masterclasses, classroom observations, and a debate competition were organized throughout the month. The preparation stage of the debate competition was successfully carried out with the support of Umid Hasanov, Chairperson of the MSU Debate Club, and Deputy Chairperson Nicat Suleymanov, while relevant training sessions were conducted for students. Following the successful completion of the preparation process, the final stage of the debate competition was organized.

The debate competition, involving teams consisting of school students and university students, was held under the observation of Rovshan Babayev, Head of the Department of Mathematics of MSU, and Elvin Mammadzade, Advisor to the Rector of MSU. During the competition, participants’ approaches to the topic, argumentation skills, and level of use of mathematical logic were highly appreciated.

At the end of the event, the school students and university students who actively participated in the debate competition were awarded certificates by the administration of Mingachevir State University. The event was considered significant in terms of strengthening school–university cooperation, increasing young people’s interest in mathematics, and developing their intellectual potential.
