Future Cities and Innovative Solutions Discussed: The Next Conference of the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of Engineering at Mingachevir State University Held

The XXI Scientific Conference of the Student Scientific Society was held at the Faculty of Engineering of Mingachevir State University within the framework of the “Architecture and Urban Planning Year – 2026.” The conference was attended by faculty administration, academic staff, and students.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Almaz Aliyeva spoke about the importance of scientific research in the fields of architecture and urban planning in the modern era, emphasizing the significance of involving students in scientific activities in these areas.

Following the opening speech, students presented their reports. Among the presenters were students of the Faculty of Engineering at MSU: Fatima Aliyeva with the topic “Climate Change and Modern Architecture: Adaptation and Development Perspectives,” Nahid Garayev with “Application of Digital Twin Technology in Urban Energy Systems and Evaluation of Optimization Potential,” and Elvin Mahmudov with “An Intelligent System for Real-Time Assessment of Engine Oil Quality.”

In addition, Ismayil Hasanzade and Naila Nuriyeva delivered a joint presentation on “AI Technologies in Detecting Attacks Against Urban Information Systems.” Kamila Ibrahimova presented “Resilience of Critical Infrastructure (Energy, Water, Transport) to Emergencies,” while Mahammad Mammadli discussed “Urbanization and Artificial Intelligence: Designing the Cities of the Future.”

Other presentations included Jamilad Mammadzade with “How Do Cities Store Energy? Secrets of Adaptive Architecture,” Nurjan Huseynova with “Cities Speak: The Impact of Architecture on Human Life,” and Omar Alcanov with “The Impact of Electric Transportation on Urban Energy Systems – EV Charging Infrastructure and Peak Load Problems.”

Furthermore, Nargiz Vahidli delivered a presentation on “The Role of Green Roof Systems in Ecosystems,” Ravana Hidayanova spoke on “Modern Problems of Architecture and Urban Planning and Directions of Sustainable Development,” while Anar Ramazanli and Solmaz Gasimli presented on “The Role of Smart City Technologies in Urban Planning Processes” and “Principles of Water-Resilient Architecture and Its Role in Urban Planning,” respectively. The presented reports attracted great interest from conference participants.

Within the framework of the conference, extensive discussions were held on contemporary urban planning, sustainable development, digital technologies, and the application of artificial intelligence. Participants also exchanged views on developing students’ scientific research skills.

At the end of the event, speakers emphasized that such conferences play an important role in revealing students’ scientific potential, shaping their innovative thinking, and preparing them for future professional activities.
