Within the framework of ongoing cooperation between Mingachevir State University (MSU) and the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center operating under the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, a series of hands-on workshops, training sessions, and awareness sessions in the field of cybersecurity were organized on November 26–28, 2025. Representatives of the Center, Nemat Rahimli and Gulyaz Ismayilzade, participated in the events.
On the first day of the program, a two-hour intensive training session was conducted for MSU students. The session covered modern cybersecurity defense approaches, the core functions of Blue Team operations, and advanced technological solutions used in ensuring information security. During the training, the working principles of security tools such as SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, and IDS/IPS were explained, and practical demonstrations were carried out using real log analysis scenarios.
On the second day, an awareness session was organized for the university’s academic staff, focusing on cybersecurity and cyber hygiene practices in the workplace. The session included an analysis of social engineering attacks such as phishing and vishing, along with practical recommendations on password management, email security, and the proper handling of sensitive data.
On the final day, an information session dedicated to the 7th intake program of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center was held. Participants were provided with detailed information about the program’s objectives, admission process, requirements, and opportunities. This was followed by a hands-on workshop titled “Remote Compromise – Windows 10,” where real-world phishing attack scenarios were analyzed using the Cyber Kill Chain model. Techniques for remote compromise of the Windows 10 operating system were demonstrated, alongside effective defensive strategies.
These trainings and workshops significantly contributed to enhancing the cybersecurity knowledge and practical skills of MSU’s academic staff and students, while also strengthening prospects for further cooperation between the university and the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center.
