Within the framework of cooperation between Mingachevir State University and a local water management institution, an awareness-raising and practice-oriented event was organized. The event was attended by the academic staff of the Department of Physics and Ecology, as well as undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Ecology and Ecological Engineering.
The main objective of the event was to promote the efficient management of water resources in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensure environmental sustainability, and provide students with hands-on exposure to real production processes. In this context, participants received detailed information about the activities of the water management enterprise, water treatment and distribution processes, as well as the application of modern technologies.
As part of the event, a scientific-practical seminar was held. Associate Professor of the Department of Physics and Ecology, Parvana Safarova, delivered a presentation on “Pollution of Water Bodies and Their Treatment,” while master’s student Javid Abbasov presented on “Ozone Treatment of Wastewater.” The presentations were followed by active discussions.
Afterwards, students visited production facilities and laboratories, where they observed the stages of water treatment on-site and had the opportunity to reinforce their theoretical knowledge through practical experience. Such a hands-on approach contributes to the development of students’ professional competencies and better prepares them for integration into the labor market.
It should be noted that Mingachevir State University places special emphasis on organizing such joint initiatives aimed at enhancing students’ practical knowledge and skills, ensuring their integration into real production environments, and training specialists in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.
