Scientific Excursion Organized for Students of Mingachevir State University

On March 11, 2025, a scientific excursion was organized for a group of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as academic staff of the Department of Physics and Ecology at Mingachevir State University to the wastewater pumping station of the Mingachevir City Water Canal Administration.

During the excursion, participants became closely acquainted with the institution’s activities, including wastewater collection and treatment processes, as well as the current state of the infrastructure. The Chief Engineer, Mustafa Yahya oghlu Karimov, provided detailed information on the management of wastewater and the overall situation in Mingachevir in this field.

It was noted that in recent years significant steps have been taken to modernize the infrastructure. Hundreds of kilometers of new sewer lines have been installed, modern pumping stations have been established, and the expansion of the system is ongoing. At the same time, it was emphasized that certain challenges still remain in the sector.

It was also highlighted that, in order to reduce environmental risks associated with wastewater, the construction of a large-scale water treatment facility in the direction of Yevlakh is planned in the near future, and the site for this project has already been determined.

The scientific excursion played an important role in strengthening students’ theoretical knowledge through practical experience, increasing their awareness of environmental issues, and supporting their professional development.
