On 6 December 2025, within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty,” the III International Conference titled “Sustainable Development Strategy: Global Trends, National Experience and New Goals (Sustainable Development Strategy: Global Trends, National Experience and New Goals)” officially commenced, jointly organized by Mingachevir State University (MSU), Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Gazi University, and “HBN Group.”
The main objective of the conference is to present research outcomes conducted in relevant fields in the post-Victory period achieved through the determination of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the heroism of the Azerbaijani Army. The conference aims to establish a scientific discussion platform covering topics arising from Azerbaijan’s “National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development 2030” and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The opening ceremony was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Mingachevir. The event was attended by officials including the Head of the Mingachevir City Executive Authority Ilham Ismayilov, representatives of local governance and political organizations, the Rector of AzTU Prof. Vilayat Valiyev, and Anar Eminov, along with diplomats such as the Consul General of Türkiye in Ganja Recep Öztop, as well as scholars, researchers, and students from 19 countries.
Before the conference, participants visited a monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and paid tribute to his memory. They also viewed an exhibition of startup projects prepared by MSU students, showcasing innovations in artificial intelligence, green energy, and social innovation.
In his speech, Rector Anar Eminov reported that more than 600 abstracts and papers were submitted from 19 countries and 24 higher education and research institutions of Azerbaijan. He emphasized that MSU attaches special importance to such international platforms, which foster innovative approaches aligned with global challenges. He also highlighted ongoing reforms at the university, expansion of university–industry cooperation, promotion of open science principles, and strengthening of startup ecosystems.
Speakers at the opening ceremony emphasized issues such as sustainable development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, green energy, and post-conflict reconstruction processes in Azerbaijan. The event highlighted the country’s strategic development projects, including industrial and tourism initiatives and infrastructure expansion in Mingachevir.
The conference continued with keynote speeches from leading international scholars, including experts from the USA, Serbia, Türkiye, and other countries, covering topics such as global finance, sustainable food systems, decision-making methodologies, and energy innovation.
The first day concluded with thematic panel sessions focused on energy transformation, artificial intelligence, climate change, and innovation ecosystems.
The second day of the conference is planned to include workshops on publication strategies in high-impact journals and multiple sectional sessions, while the closing ceremony is scheduled to be held at AzTU.
This III International Conference continues a scientific tradition initiated in 2021 and further developed in 2023, reinforcing Azerbaijan’s role in advancing global academic cooperation and sustainable development research.
