Another awareness-raising training session was organized at Mingachevir State University with the aim of increasing students’ professional knowledge and adapting them to modern global challenges. Organized by the Department of Energy Engineering, the event was dedicated to the topic “Energy Security and Sustainable Development Perspectives.”
The main speaker of the training, lecturer of the Department of Energy Engineering Aziz Azizli, spoke about the strategic position of energy security in the national security system of every state in the modern era. The speaker noted that energy security means not only ensuring the uninterrupted supply of resources but also maintaining sustainable economic development with minimal environmental impact.
Within the framework of the training, the following main directions were discussed:
- Energy Security and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): the relationship between the efficient use of energy resources and global development targets, as well as current trends;
- Transition to Green Energy: the increasing role of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydro energy in the energy balance and the reduction of carbon emissions;
- Innovative Technologies: the contribution of digitalization of energy systems and Smart Grid technologies to sustainable development;
- Azerbaijan’s Energy Strategy: the country’s role in international energy security and the prospects of “green energy” zones established in the liberated territories.
The speaker emphasized that the implementation of innovations in the energy sector and the deep understanding of global processes by young specialists are essential for ensuring sustainable development.
At the end of the interactive training, students’ questions were answered and extensive discussions on the topic were held. It was noted that such events are an integral part of the continuous activities carried out at Mingachevir State University to strengthen the training of highly qualified specialists and university–industry cooperation.
